| Judaism and Christianity are the two most closely
related of the three great faiths that descend from 'our father Abraham.'
We share one God, yet in neighborhoods across America we
know little of each other – and much of what we think
we know turns out to be wrong or incomplete.
Jews and Christians: Talking Together offers a new
approach to understanding the common roots and historic relationship
between Judaism and Christianity.
The six-session discussion program includes
- video selections for
each session to spark discussion;
- a detailed discussion leader’s guide; and
- extensive additional resources at the Jews and Christians Web site.
Jews and Christians: Talking Together explores six
key themes, offering fresh insight and startling truths about
each faith and its relationship to the other.
And participants in this discussion, Jew or Christian,
may be surprised how much they learn about their own
faith.
Program outline
The sessions explore:
- Our current relationship: what we know (or think
we know); what we'd like to learn
- Our sacred scriptures: why Christians need the
Torah; what Jews can learn from the New Testament
- How we pray: the ancient patterns and forms we
share
- Jesus the Rabbi, Jesus the Christ: understanding
Jesus' life as a Jew
- Roots of anti-Semitism: facing our hurtful past,
finding a way forward
- Building bridges: exploring ways to keep the
conversation going, for the good of our communities.
Video and Web resources
The video companion for each session includes excerpts from
the award-winning documentary Jews and Christians: A Journey
of Faith and the accompanying webcast, Jews and Christians:
Talking Together.
Additional video segments allow participants
to go deeper on select topics, including Resurrection
and the Afterlife, The Holocaust, Building Bridges in Schools
and Places of Worship, and other topics.
